Eric Wright is a very unique cellist, combining his love for American Old Time and Irish music, with contemporary electronic music. Eric he sets out to incorporate cello into new and traditional music in ways that haven't been done before. Taking his innovative bowing techniques, chording styles, and 'the chop', to new levels, Eric has become a highly sought-after performer, accompanist, producer, session musician, and arranger for all types of folk styles. He is a founding bandmember of The Fretless, which won a 2017 JUNO Award for Instrumental Album of the Year, as well as the 2014 CFMA award for Ensemble of the Year. His collaboration with violinist Trent Freeman is the electronic group Speaker Face, which won the 2014 VIMA award for Electronic/Dance Recording. Eric graduated from The Berklee College of Music, where he studied cello, music synthesis, and film scoring. After living in California where he scored movies and documentaries, he was hired on by EMI records as a music consultant. Eric has performed and recorded with numerous bands including Trey Anastasio, Natalie MacMaster, John Reischman, and many others.
