MBSC junior
July 7-11, 2026: Tuesday-Saturday, 9a-12p
Mike Block String Camp is now offering “mbsc junior” - a 5-day morning program Tues-Sat from 9a-12p to get young musicians involved in our creative string community!
Open to musicians ages 5-10 who have played for at least 6 months.
Any/all string instruments (bowed or picked) are welcome.
Including: violin, viola, cello, bass, mandolin, guitar, banjo, ukulele
Kids will gain experience learning by ear, working with others collaboratively, and exploring their creativity.
Much like our main MBSC program, students will learn a few melodies by ear from faculty, as well as chords and rhythmic layers. Then, they will be guided on how to create arrangements by putting all those elements together. Students will be taught and coached by MBSC’s Assistant Faculty, and will be able to attend multiple MBSC elective classes of their choosing. The program concludes with the students performing the pieces they have arranged before final pick-up on Saturday.
Tuition for the program is $225, and includes breakfast. Parents can drop their students off as early as 8:30 a.m. for breakfast, with activities starting at 9 a.m. Pick-up is promptly at 12 p.m. daily. Students will have constant supervision by our faculty/staff. Families in mbsc junior are also welcome to attend our main program’s nighttime concerts and hotel jams for free.
